If GMD will do it as well as these free programs it will be golden, but as is, it is not doing it. I have tried 3 other programs and they have pulled everything in nicely. You can see that GMD is distorting these things. See the attached pictures from Netfab and Meshlab (free software). I am able to add features to the distorted imports with no problem as well once they are in and solidified. Its just has no intact flat or smooth curved surfaces anymoreĪjayre.take a look at your simple flat faced part you imported? I mean it is less distorted because of no curves to figure out for the software, but why aren't those flat surfaces completely flat anymore? I believe your seeing the same problems with that file except it is not as bad due to the simple no curve design? Once I get the file in, it turns it into a solid nicely. Same experience as me so far and the stuff that comes in as organic basically turns a crisp file into a "decayed" part.ĭon't get me wrong though, this will be awesome if they get the bugs worked out. GMD seems to try and make way to many faces or something and distorts things. ![]() The convert to solid seems to work pretty good, but it is converting a crappy imported mesh so it still looks bad. I am always wanting to modify an stl but couldn't.Īnything I could change to help this and get them to come in smooth? This is the main reason I paid a bunch of money to renew my subscription. If anyone else wants to try, let us know how it works. Most things so far will not come in without using "organic" and they are not keeping their original form. I tried a couple others as well and they don't look very good. ![]() This is a perfectly smooth nice stl., but it won't come into GMD very nice at all for me. It is just the first thing I found on thingiverse to try. I attached one of the files I was trying. Cubify Sculpt brings them in ok, but free Meshlab brings them in perfect. Stl files are coming in pretty distorted from what I have tried so far. I wanted to edit stl files as well as actually use motion (64 bit install) I bought a new subscription to get the latest GMD and updated to the new dynamics.
